Cyclist Killed in Huntington Beach Bicycle Accident on PCH

Three cyclists were hit by a car in a fatal Huntington Beach bicycle accident. One of the victims was killed in the collision, while the other two were badly injured and found in the road.

Huntington Beach police are investigating the fatal car-on-bike crash, which happened on PCH early on Monday, October 20, 2025.

A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the tragic incident, and the victim has been named as Eric John Williams, 45, of Garden Grove.

Fatal Huntington Beach Bicycle Accident

The accident happened at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street. Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:45 a.m. after receiving reports of three cyclists in the road.

One of the cyclists was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews. The other two sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Those sustaining injuries have not been identified, but were both male. 

The cyclist who tragically passed away has been named as Eric John Williams, 45, of Garden Grove. He was a founder of Community Church of West Garden Grove, as well as a youth pastor at Seaside Community Church. The husband and father of four had recently celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary.

Police Investigation: Arrest Made After Bicycle Accident

Police immediately started an investigation into the collision. Their preliminary findings suggested that the cyclists were riding in the bike lane along the edge of PCH when they were hit by a gold 2006 Mercedes E-Class.

Officers arrested a 43-year-old woman from Long Beach named Amber Kristine Calderon about half a mile from the scene of the accident. She was arrested and has since been charged with one count of hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury and two counts of failing to stop at a hit-and-run crash with injury or death – all felony charges.
