Los Angeles Senior Tennis Player Killed by Drunk Driver

Los Angeles senior killed by drunk driver

Braun Levi, an 18-year-old high school senior and accomplished tennis player, was tragically killed by a drunk driver in Manhattan Beach, California, just months after his family lost their home in the Palisades Fire.

Braun, 18, was struck and killed by a female drunk driver while crossing the street with a friend at 12:45 am on Sunday in Manhattan Beach, California.  The alleged driver, Jenia Belt, 33, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and homicide and is being held without bail.

Levi was a senior at Loyola High School, a top-ranked Jesuit academic institution, and was set to attend the University of Virginia in the fall.  He was the captain of the varsity tennis team and had recently won the Mission League doubles championship with his partner, Cooper Schwartz.

The Loyola community is mourning his loss, with school staff and peers sharing heartfelt tributes. Levi’s sister, Adelle Levi, expressed her grief in a tearful message, vowing to live with the same strength and kindness her brother embodied.  The crash site has been turned into a memorial adorned with flowers and pictures from loved ones.

This deadly accident comes just months after the Levi family lost their million-dollar home in the Los Angeles Palisades Fire, which devastated the Pacific Palisades community. His family had since relocated to the South Bay area.
