Honda Vehicles Recalled for Engine Stalling Issues

Honda recall

American Honda has issued a vehicle defect recall for about 94,000 model-year 2018-2019 Honda Pilot and Acura MDX vehicles and 2019 Honda Odyssey, Ridgeline, Acura TLX, Acura RLX and RLX Hybrid vehicles due to timing belt problems that could cause engine stalling. According to Consumer Reports, due to a manufacturing error, certain timing belts that synchronize an engine’s mechanical operation might lose their teeth. Without them, an engine might not operate properly and could stall.

When the recall begins, Honda and Acura dealers will inspect the engines, and if necessary, replace the timing belt free. Honda says it will repair damage related to this potential problem at no charge to consumers. Honda says so far no crashes or injuries related to this problem have been reported. Vehicle owners with concerns are asked to call Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

Stalled Vehicles Can Cause Dangerous Situations

Stalled vehicles can pose significant dangers on roadways not just for vehicle occupants, but also for others on the roadway. Stalling in itself could result in a crash. The occupants of the stalling vehicle could suffer major or fatal injuries if they are struck by other vehicles that are unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. When vehicles are stalled on the freeway, they are also at risk of getting hit by impaired, distracted or careless drivers. If your vehicle stalls in the middle of the roadway, it would be in your best interest to get off the roadway as soon and as safely as possible. Be sure to turn on your headlights so other vehicles can see you. Call 911 so you can get assistance as soon as possible.

Auto Product Liability Issues

If you or a loved one has been injured as the result of a defective vehicle or a faulty auto part, please remember that you have legal rights. Injured victims of defective autos can seek compensation for their injuries, damages, and losses by filing an auto product liability claim against the manufacturer of the vehicle and/or the part. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, pain and suffering and emotional distress. A knowledgeable auto defect attorney will be able to advise victims and their families regarding their legal rights and options.
