Forky Plush from 'Toy Story 4' Recalled by Disney for Potential Choking Hazard

It might be hard to pry away the googly-eyed Forky (a character from the latest Disney Pixar hit, Toy Story 4) from little kids’ hands. But, according to news reports, parents might have to do just that because Disney has recalled Forky plush toys, as the toys’ eyes could potentially detach and pose a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves the 11-inch Forky plush toy with poseable arms, a base, rainbow screen art on top of the foot, and plastic rolling googly eyes.

Dangerous for Young Children

The eyes are made of three parts—a white plastic base, a clear plastic dome, and a small black plastic disc within the dome. So far, no injuries have been reported. But consumers are urged to remove the recalled toy immediately from children and return it to a Disney Store retail location, Walt Disney World, or Disneyland Resort theme park retail store location for a full refund.

The Forky plush toys were sold nationwide at Disney stores, theme parks, and online at shopdisney.com and on Amazon from April 2019 to June 2019 for about $20. Disney conducted the recall voluntarily under the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) Fast Track Recall process, which is initiated by companies that commit to working with the CPSC to promptly announce the recall and perform the remedies necessary to protect consumers.

Tips to Prevent Choking Hazards

A choking hazard is any object that could be caught in a child’s throat, blocking their airway and making it difficult or impossible for them to breathe. Hazards could range from food to small toys or parts of children’s products that could break away or disintegrate and pose a choking danger. Common household items that could pose choking hazards include latex balloons, coins, marbles, toys with small parts, pen or marker caps, small balls, button batteries, medicine syringes, and beads.

Here are a few tips on how to choose the right toys for young children:

If your child has been injured due to a dangerous or defective product, contact an experienced product defect lawyer to obtain more information about pursuing your legal rights.
