The son of model Cindy Crawford, Presley Gerber, has passed away while staying at a Los Angeles rehab facility. The medical examiner has not released the cause of death yet, but TMZ is reporting that it was possibly an overdose. In a previous video that Gerber shared, he talked about being on multiple medications for his mental health and addiction.
Presley Walker Gerber died on Sunday, September 20, 2026. He was 27. The records of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner indicate that the death occurred at a rehabilitation facility. His mother, Cindy Crawford, his father, Rande Gerber, and his sister, Kaia Gerber, asked for privacy through a family representative. That request is the right place to start.
Presley was a model, signed young, who worked for houses including Moschino, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Calvin Klein. He appeared with his mother in a 2018 Pepsi Super Bowl commercial that restaged her 1992 ad. He was also public, for several years, about depression, panic, substance use, and the work of staying alive. He talked about it on a 2023 podcast. He ran “Mental Health Mondays.” In March 2026, he posted about an ibogaine treatment and the challenge of relinquishing control.
No official statement has named the facility. No toxicology results are public. In California, a rehab or residential treatment program can face a civil claim when a preventable failure causes injury or death. The legal idea is ordinary, even if the setting is not: the facility owed a duty of reasonable care, it fell below that duty, and the failure was a substantial factor in the harm. It is currently unclear whether the incident resulted from a rehab facility’s negligence or an overdose without negligence. That information is to be determined.
Presley had spoken about buprenorphine, fluctuating benzodiazepine use, panic attacks, and loss. He had sought unconventional treatment months earlier. He had been trying, in public, for years. That history cuts both ways. It can mean he was medically complicated and needed a high level of care.
