Pedestrian Killed on 5 Freeway in Anaheim

an ambulance at the scene of the accident

Two vehicles struck and killed a pedestrian on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Anaheim, causing significant traffic disruptions. March 31, 2025.  The accident occurred at 2:03 a.m. on the southbound lanes north of Lincoln Avenue.   A white truck initially hit the pedestrian in the middle lanes, and a black Honda Civic also struck them.

A SigAlert was issued at 2:18 a.m., leading to the closure of the southbound Santa Ana Freeway and the Euclid Street on-ramp. The far right lane reopened at 3:11 a.m., with other traffic diverted off at Euclid Street. All lanes were fully reopened by 7 a.m., but traffic was backed up to Valley View Avenue. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident but did not describe the pedestrian.

Another recent tragedy occurred in Manhattan Beach when a high school senior was crossing the street and was struck and killed by a drunk driver. There have been a slew of accidents on the 5 freeway recently, including accidents with commercial trucks.
