Kubota Recalls Nearly 49,000 Utility Vehicles for Defective Floor Mats

Kubota Tractor Corporation recalled about 48,875 of its RTV-X1100C model utility vehicles because of crash and injury hazards posed by defective floor mats.

According to an alert posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the floor mats on the affected model can warp or degrade, interfering with the throttle pedal and putting users in danger.

Details of the Recall

The recall specifically involves the base model Kubota RTV-X1100C from 2013 through to 2021. Some models may include an additional letter after the “C.” So far, Kubota, which is based in Texas, has received one report of loss of control that resulted in black eyes and bruising, the recall notice said.

Consumers with these vehicles are urged to stop using them immediately and contact an authorized Kubota dealer. Company officials say that if the floor mat is warped or degraded, consumers will receive a new floor mat installed by the dealer that will be secured to the floor by rivets.

If the utility vehicle’s floor mat is not warped or degraded, the dealer will complete a modification to the existing floor mat by trimming the mat and securing it with rivets to the floor. The recall notice says Kubota is contacting all known vehicle owners directly. If you have any questions or concerns about the recall and/or repair process, call Kubota at 888-458-2682. Product Liability Issues

There have been a number of recalls over the years involving utility vehicles, including a variety of issues, including manufacturing defects, defective parts, and faulty design that can potentially result in injury crashes. Utility vehicles in the past have also been recalled for fire dangers and the risk of causing a crash and associated trauma

. Vehicle fires can potentially result in serious damage, including burn injuries, smoke inhalation injuries, and even deaths.

Suppose you or a loved one has been injured due to a defective product. In that case, you may be able to file a product liability claim seeking compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities, pain and suffering, and emotional distress. Families that have lost loved ones may also be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation.

An experienced product defect lawyer will be able to advise victims in such cases regarding their legal rights and options and help hold the manufacturer of the defective product accountable.
