Former Bravo Star Melyssa Ford Seriously Injured in Los Angeles Freeway Hit and Run Accident

Former Bravo star Melyssa Ford suffered serious injuries in a rollover accident in Los Angeles. According to a report on People.com, the 41-year-old hip hop music video model and reality star who starred in the Bravo show, “Blood Sweat & Heels,” was on her way to a bridal shower the afternoon of June 28 when a tractor-trailer merged into her lane on the Ventura Freeway clipping her back right tire. The impact caused her Jeep Wrangler to flip three times before landing upside down.

Severe Injuries Sustained

Ford suffered a skull feature, bleeding on the brain, severe cuts and bruises. A 10-inch cut across her face and head had to be surgically closed. She also reportedly had several stapes and stitches all over her body. The truck driver did not stop at the scene and officials are still looking for the vehicle and the driver.

Ford’s family released graphic images to People in the hopes that it will prompt witnesses to come forward with information. A Good Samaritan who stopped to help Ford moments after the crash took the photographs. The images show Ford lying on the freeway, bleeding from the head and in severe pain as bystanders try to comfort her and get her into an ambulance. A GoFundMe page has been started to help raise money for Ford’s medical costs and ongoing care.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Melyssa Ford who has clearly suffered major injuries in this crash. We wish her the very best for a quick and full recovery.

Laws and Liability Issues

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the large truck left the scene after apparently causing this horrific crash. Under California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a), it is illegal to leave the scene of an injury or fatal car accident. Motorists must stop immediately at the scene, wait for officials to arrive, exchange pertinent information with all parties involved and most importantly, render aid to the injured victim. We hope the big rig’s driver in this case is apprehended and brought to justice.

In addition to criminal charges, in such cases, injured victims may also be able to seek compensation for damages sustained in the crash by filing a personal injury lawsuit. In this case, the truck driver and his or her employer can be held financially responsible for the damages. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, permanent injuries and pain and suffering. An experienced Los Angeles hit and run injury lawyer can help injured victims and their families seek the compensation they need and deserve, and hold the at-fault parties accountable.
