FDA Bans Products that Help Teens Conceal Vaping Products

Singers and Models in Music Videos Play a Big Part in Promoting Vaping

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is cracking down on products that help teens vape without getting caught because they are disguised to appear like candy, video games, or hoodies. According to an alert posted by the FDA, the agency sent out warnings to companies such as Vaprwear Gear, Vapewear, Wizman Limited, EightCig, Ejuicepack, Vape Royalty, VapeCentric, Dukhan Store, VapeSourcing, and Shenzen Uwell Technology. These companies could face fines, seizures, or legal injunctions if they fail to stop making or selling these illegal products.

Sold to Young People

FDA officials say they are concerned because these companies are selling products designed to make it easy for teens to hide their vapes from adults. Vaprwear Gear, for instance, designs its backpacks and hoodies to conceal pockets and discreetly weave hoses to carry a vape and deliver vapor.

Other companies make vape systems designed to appear like video game systems, fidget spinners, or smartwatches. The FDA also warned two companies that were selling e-liquid in containers that looked like candy. For example, one company, Vape Royalty LLC, sells e-liquid that looks exactly like Sour Patch Kids candy. VapeCentric sells e-liquid that looks like Pocky Strawberry biscuit sticks.

In addition, the FDA has issued warning letters to 73 brick-and-mortar retailers for selling unauthorized flavored, cartridge-based e-cigarettes. This follows 22 warning letters that FDA issued last month for similar violations to online and brick-and-mortar retailers and manufacturers nationwide.

Holding Manufacturers Accountable

Study after study has shown the harmful health effects of e-cigarettes and vaping products. As public health officials are struggling to educate the nation’s youth about the dangers of vaping, these types of products do an extreme disservice by teaching young people how to vape without getting caught by an adult, be it at home or at school. Manufacturers’ irresponsible behavior is undeniable, and they deserve accountability.

If you or a loved one has e-cigarette products or if an exploding e-cigarette has injured you, you may be able to seek compensation for your injuries, damages, and losses.
