A high-speed, wrong-way crash involving a BMW in Santa Ana resulted in two fatalities and five hospitalizations, with police still investigating potential causes such as intoxication. The incident occurred Monday evening at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Main Street, just north of Warner Avenue in Santa Ana, California.
A BMW traveling north at a high rate of speed crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The BMW collided with three other cars. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene; their identities have not been released.
Five other individuals were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition; they are expected to survive. Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The Santa Ana Police Department reported the news, specifically Officer Natalie Garcia.
In a Facebook post, a reporter shared a video of drivers dodging the wrong way driver.
8/6/2025 update: The BMW driver has been identified as Jorge Andres Delgado, 29. Delgado crashed into 32-year-old Leticia Placencia Alvarado. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators are still trying to determine a motive and if it was done on purpose or if drugs/alcohol were involved.
