Ford Recalls 2020 Vehicle Models for Safety Defects

Ford to Recall 3 Million Vehicles Equipped with Faulty Takata Airbags After Losing Fight with Federal Agency

Ford has recalled a number of its 2020 model vehicles for safety defects. According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, Ford warned that some 2019-2020 Ford Transit Connect vans have an engine flaw that could create fire risks, while some 2020 Ford Escape SUVs have tire pressure monitoring problems that could lead to loss of vehicle control.

Both vehicles and the high-performance Mustang Shelby GT350 and Mustang Shelby GT500 have been recalled for its light system. Ford says it is unaware of any accident or injury related to these auto defects.

Details of the Recall

Ford says some Transit Connect vehicles with the 2.5L engine have a software calibration issue that fails to keep the engine properly cooled. When the engine temperature exceeds “critical limits,” the engine may be damaged and the fire risk may go up. This recall involves 3,487 vans in the United States and Canada.

In the recalled Ford Escape SUVs, the failing tire pressure monitoring systems may not warn drivers about low pressure in rear tires, which could affect the driver’s ability to control the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. This recall affects 708 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. When the recall begins, dealers will replace the body control module.

In the recalled 2017-20 Mustang Shelby vehicles, the daytime lights might not activate as required, reducing the visibility for other drivers and potentially increasing the risk of a crash. This recall involves 833 vehicles. When the recall campaign begins, dealers will update the body control module software.

Recent Ford Recalls

Ford has issued a series of recall alerts for 2020 vehicles. Last month, the automaker recalled more than 600,000 vehicles to fix a problem with a rearview camera that may leave a blank or distorted screen and endanger pedestrians, especially young children.

In August, Ford recalled the F-150 pickup trucks for fire and battery connection issues while also warning that the 2020 Lincoln Corsair had coil springs that could corrode, fracture, and fall off the vehicle creating a roadway hazard.

Auto defects can potentially cause devastating crashes, injuries, and even fatalities. Automakers have the responsibility to manufacture vehicles that are safe for consumers. Suppose you or a loved one has been injured due to a defective auto.

In that case, you may be able to file an auto product liability lawsuit seeking compensation for your injuries, damages and losses. An experienced auto defect lawyer will be able to fight for your rights, help you hold the negligent manufacturers accountable, and help you secure maximum compensation for your losses.
