Man Arrested for Driving Under the Influence After Rising a Horse on the Freeway

A man accused of riding a white horse on the 91 Freeway in Long Beach, was arrested by California Highway Patrol officials on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the man’s blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent. Officials say the 29-year-old Orange County man rode the horse off an exit and onto a roadway in Bellflower where he was arrested. Two people were killed on Orange County highways in the first 60 hours of the Christmas holiday reporting period, the California Highway Patrol reports. A Los Angeles police officer has been arrested in connection with a horrific DUI crash in Whittier, which left three people dead the night of September 26, 2017. According to an NBC news report, officials said 26-year-old Edgar Verduzco of Santa Ana was speeding in his 2016 Chevy Camaro on the 605 Freeway just north of Washington Boulevard when he struck a 2014 Nissan and a 2010 Scion from behind. A California bill that is awaiting the governor’s signature would require DUI prevention training for bartenders. According to an NBC news report, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) authored the bill after the tragic deaths of two UC San Diego medical students who were killed in a wrong-way crash with a drunk driver. Two people suffered critical injuries in a Newport Beach car accident after a vehicle went out of control, drove on to the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian on West Coast Highway the afternoon of June 11, 2017. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred when the 37-year-old Newport Beach man was jogging westbound on a sidewalk of West Coast Highway.

The 2000 Toyota Celica traveling west struck the jogger in the 5900 block of West Coast Highway near Cappy’s Café. A female passenger in the Celica was also critically injured.
