California Woman Sues Maker of Nutri Ninja After Blender Slices Her Fingers

A California woman has filed a product liability lawsuit against SharkNinja, manufacturer of Nutri Ninja blenders, claiming one of these products caused significant laceration injuries to her fingers.  According to a report on TMZ.com, Nicole Guttormsen is suing the company over its Nutri Ninja BL480 blender, which she alleges is a dangerous and defective product. She claims the product left her with serious injuries and is pursuing damages.

Gnarly Injuries From the Blender

TMZ reports that Guttormsen was blending ingredients in the Nutri Ninja when the canister shot off its base, exposing the spinning blades and causing significant injuries to her hands and fingers. Gory photos published by TMZ with a warning message saying the images “ain’t for the queasy” show three of the woman’s fingers severely injured.

Guttormsen says the blender is defective because it generated excessive pressure, and the threads that are supposed to secure the canister onto the blade assembly don’t work properly. She is suing for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and loss of earning capacity.

Product Liability Issues with the Blenders

All manufacturers are responsible for ensuring that their products are safe for consumers to use. They must also warn users about any dangers they may encounter during normal product use. Regular use of personal blenders, such as Nutri Ninja and NutriBullet, has resulted in a number of serious injuries.

The most common type of injury from defective blenders is lacerations. While many may recover from their injuries, such accidents could result in permanent injuries or disfigurement in severe cases.

Injured victims of defective products may be able to seek compensation for damages, including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitative treatment, pain and suffering, and emotional distress. The goal of these product liability lawsuits is not just money to cover damages but also to warn other people about the dangers of what appears to be a faulty and hazardous product.

Suppose you or a loved one has been injured due to a dangerous or defective product. In that case, you must contact an experienced product defect lawyer who can provide you with more information about pursuing your legal rights.
