Bisnar Chase is proud to present the winner of our 2018 Branch Out Scholarship Program, Sarah Rai!
The Branch Out Scholarship is a $1,000 monetary award given to a college student who we feel writes the best summary of how their education is important to them, and how they can use their education to deal with issues in their community – improving lives and solving problems to help the people around them.
Sarah wrote an exemplary essay about the lack of women’s representation in her industry of marine construction, and how she intended on solving it by presenting information about her field at events and conferences. Sarah also plans to improve the business development program at her organization to mentor young engineers in order to cultivate a more inclusive environment for women in the industry.
The Branch Out Scholarship also allows the winner to choose a charitable organization for Bisnar Chase to donate $500 toward. Sarah chose to donate to the Tahirih Justice Center – an organization that gives legal and social services to immigrant women and children fleeing violence.
