American Honda Recalls 25,000 Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles for Crash Hazards

Acura and Honda Vehicles Recalled for Possible Fuel Pump Failure

American Honda Motor Company is recalling about 25,000 recreational, off-highway vehicles because they can move or roll while in the park position creating crash and injury hazards. According to a KIRO7 news report, the company has said it has received three reports of these ROVs moving while parked but has not heard reports of any injuries. The recall includes certain 2019 and 2020 models put out by American Honda, which is based in Torrance, California.

Details of the Recall

The 2019 and 2020  Honda Pioneer 1000 and Talon 1000 side-by-side were the vehicles targeted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for this particular problem. The recalled Pioneers are three- and five-passenger vehicles for 2019 and 2020, while the 2019 Talon is a two-passenger vehicle. The 2020 Talons recalled are two- and four-passenger vehicles.

The recalled vehicles were sold in a number of colors, including red, blue, gray, green and yellow. The name “Honda” appears on the front, rear and sides of the vehicle. The model names are printed on a label located on both sides of the vehicle as well. The vehicle identification number is stamped in the frame at the left rear of the Pioneer 1000, according to the CPSC. For the Talon 1000, the VIN is stamped on the left side of the frame under the left front fender.

The vehicles were sold at authorized Honda Powersports dealers nationwide, from November 2018 through March 2020. CPSC urges consumers to stop using the recalled ROVs immediately and contact a Honda Powersports dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Product Liability Issues

Rollaway hazards are dangerous not just in automobiles, but in any type of vehicle, including ROVs. When a vehicle has the potential to roll away even when put in park, there is the potential for serious accidents and catastrophic or even fatal injuries. There is the potential for major injuries including brain trauma, neck and back injuries, broken bones and internal injuries. If you or a loved one has been injured as a result of these or other defective products, it is important that you contact an experienced product defect lawyer who will help you obtain maximum compensation for your injuries, damages and losses.
