A recall has been issued for several models of Yamaha golf cars and personal transportation vehicles (PTVs) because of potential brake failure and the risk of injury and death as a result.

According to an alert posted on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) website, the recall involves several 2021 and 2022 golf cars and PTVs. The brake failure issue on Yamaha golf cars could put drivers, passengers, and pedestrians in danger.

These recalled vehicles come in various colors, including white, blue, green, and orange. The model name is on both sides of the golf cars, with the serial number located on the frame under the operator’s seat. So far, these product defects have not resulted in any known injuries or deaths.

Consumers should stop using the recalled Yamaha golf cars right sway and contact a dealer to schedule a free repair. The company is contacting all registered owners directly. Yamaha golf car dealers sold the vehicles exclusively nationwide from April 2020 through August 2021 for between $6,000 and $9,500.

Brake Failure and Liability Issues

Brake failure can be a serious issue regardless of the type of vehicle. They may not be as heavy as regular road cars, but the Yamaha golf cars can still be dangerous if they are out of control and unable to stop. When the brakes fail, there is a danger of injury and death to the vehicle’s occupants and others such as pedestrians, bicyclists, and other motorists. Common injuries suffered in these types of incidents include head injuries, spinal cord damage, broken bones, internal organ damage, amputations, and lacerations.

When you or a loved one suffer injuries from a defective vehicle or vehicle part, you must preserve the vehicle. Experts need to examine it for manufacturing defects, design flaws, and other problems. In such cases, injured victims can seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

If you have lost a loved one due to a dangerous or defective product, you can seek compensation by filing a wrongful death lawsuit. Injured victims and their families would be well advised to reach out to an experienced product defect attorney who can provide them with more information about pursuing their legal rights.
