Chrysler Pacifica Minivans Recalled

Chrysler Pacifica Minivans Recalled

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a vehicle defect recall for 198,731 of its 2017 to 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Minivans because they may lose power steering or stall because of improperly installed wiring. According to an article on Consumer Reports, if a vehicle stalls while in motion of if the steering effort required to turn the vehicle suddenly changes, it could lead to a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Details of the Chrysler Pacifica Minivans Recall

Only Chrysler Pacifica vehicles that have engine stop/start systems, which automatically shut off the engine when the vehicle stops, are included in this recall. The automaker says it is not aware of any car accidents or injuries as a result of this issue. The recall includes certain 2017-2019 Chrysler Pacifica minivans manufactured from Oct. 11, 2016 through Nov. 20, 2018.

Because of a manufacturing defect, a wiring connection may become loose over time. As a result the vehicle may stall or lose its power steering. When the recall begins the end of June, dealers will disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble the connection as needed, at no charge to vehicle owners. For more information, vehicle owners may call FCA’s toll-free customer service line at 1-800-853-1403.

Stalling and Steering Issues

Stalling and steering problems have the potential to result in accidents that could result in severe injuries or fatalities. When a vehicle suddenly stalls on a highway or freeway, there is the danger of getting hit by other vehicles on the roadway. It is also dangerous when a driver gets out of a stalled vehicle to get help. These types of accidents are often tragic and heartbreaking. When a steering system fails, even experienced drivers may struggle to regain control of the vehicle and this is a dangerous situation that could result in a car accident.

If you or a loved one has been injured as the result of a vehicle defect – whether it is a manufacturing defect or design flaw – you have the right to file an auto product liability lawsuit seeking compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, pain and suffering and emotional distress. If you have a lost a loved one due to a defective auto, you may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation as well. An experienced auto defect lawyer can help guide you through what can be a complex legal process.
