Two Drivers Seriously Injured in Irvine Car Accident

By Brian Chase on May 9, 2014 - No comments

Two drivers suffered serious injuries in a three-car crash in Irvine. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred the afternoon of May 8, 2014 at the intersection of Alton Parkway and Red Hill Drive. Two of the vehicles had crashed head-on, officials said. Two drivers, a 50-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were transported to an area trauma center with major injuries. A 16-year-old girl in the third vehicle was taken to a local hospital with relatively minor injuries. Irvine traffic investigators are looking into what caused this crash.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the two drivers who have been seriously injured in this crash. We wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Crash Statistics

There were five fatalities and 905 injuries reported as a result of Irvine car accidents, according to California Highway Patrol’s 2011 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In Orange County as a whole, 128 people died and 13,541 were injured due to traffic collisions during the same year.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, this three-car collision occurred at an intersection that is monitored by traffic lights. There are still several unanswered questions here. What caused this crash? Did one of the drivers fail to stop at a red light? Did one of the drivers fail to yield the right of way at the intersection? Did speed or alcohol play a part in this collision? Did distracted driving or inattention cause this crash? We trust that officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Protecting Victims’ Rights

In such cases, the at-fault driver can be held liable for the injuries, damages and losses caused. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation, permanent injuries, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Injured victims in such cases would be well advised to contact an experienced Irvine personal injury lawyer who will fight hard to ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
