Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Son Injured in Los Angeles Car Crash

King Combs, son of rapper and record producer, Sean “Diddy” Combs, suffered injuries in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, may have been caused by a suspected DUI driver. According to a TMZ news report, the incident occurred a little after midnight on Aug. 5 in Beverly Hills when police say a man speeding in a Tesla down Sunset Boulevard, lost control and crashed into Combs’ red Ferrari.

DUI Suspected

Combs suffered injuries, but was treated at the scene and did not need to be transported to a hospital. Both cars were totaled. Police told TMZ that the Tesla’s driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Combs, 22, is the son of “Diddy” Combs and Kim Porter, who tragically died in her sleep from a lung infection.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Combs who has been injured in this crash. It is indeed fortunate that he did not suffer major injuries in what appears to have been a violent, high-impact crash.

Laws and Liability Issues

Based on this news report, officials say the driver of the Tesla that struck Combs’ Ferrari was speeding just before the collision and may have also been under the influence at the time. Speed and driving under the influence can be a deadly combination. Speeding and driving under the influence are also illegal under California law.

California’s Basic Speed Law states that drivers should observe posted speed limits and drive at a speed that is safe given roadway and weather conditions. Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is also illegal under California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a).

Drivers who operate recklessly by speeding or driving under the influence can face criminal charges and penalties. However, they can also cause tremendous damages in the form of injuries. A lot of these crashes also result in fatalities. For these damages, at-fault drivers can also be held financially responsible in addition to facing criminal charges and penalties.

Injured victims in such cases would be well advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles car accident lawyer who will stay abreast of the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected. Injured car accident victims may be able to seek compensation for losses such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities and pain and suffering.
