Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Exploding NutriBullet Blenders

A Nevada woman has filed a product liability lawsuit against Homeland Housewares that manufactures NutriBullet blenders. According to a report in The Daily Mail, Wendy Littlefield said the device exploded during use, causing the spinning blades to chop her right hand. She said the device suddenly malfunctioned causing her to suffer severe injuries to her right hand, leaving her with nerve damage. She is seeking compensation for damages including pain and suffering, emotional distress and disfigurement.

Severe Injuries Reported

Writing on Facebook, her daughter said her mom’s life will never be the same considering she would never be able to use her dominant right hand. She also said her mother is suffering chronic pain and had to undergo a number of surgeries. NutriBullet is a popular kitchen gadget that can smash and blend fruits, vegetables and nuts into nutritious drinks. It is favored by celebs.

However, there have been other reports of the blenders exploding as well. The Daily Mail talks about Richard Moore, a film producer from London who was left with severe burn injuries and blisters after his blender exploded. However, his might have been a copycat version of NutriBullet, which shattered as he was blending a smoothie, showering him with burning liquid and shards of plastic. They are looking into whether that blender was a NutriBullet or a counterfeit.

Product Liability Issues

Household appliances have the potential to cause serious injuries or even fatalities. Last week, we heard about lawsuits filed over exploding electric pressure cookers that scalded consumers and now the NutriBullet system has its own problems. Both these products have not been recalled, but social media and Internet forums have a number of reports of horrible injuries caused by these types of accidents.

If you have been injured as the results of a dangerous or defective products, you may be able to file a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer to seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, permanent injuries such as scarring or disfigurement, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Injured victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced product defect attorney who will fight for their rights and help hold the at-fault manufacturer accountable.
