Miami Dolphins' Kendrick Norton Has Left Arm Amputated After Car Accident

Miami Dolphins’ defensive tackle Kendrick Norton, was severely injured in a two-car accident in Florida early morning on July 4, which led to his left arm being amputated. According to a news report in the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Norton, 22, was injured when his black 2017 Ford F250 pickup truck rolled over onto its roof after colliding with a concrete barrier for an unknown reason on the Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836) westbound ramp leading to the Palmetto Expressway (State Road 836).

A grey 2015 Maserati was also involved in the crash. However, that vehicle had minor damage and the driver was uninjured. Both passengers in Norton’s truck were transported to the trauma center, but did not suffer major injuries, the report stated. Norton was transported to a trauma center in Miami where he remained in critical condition and suffered multiple injuries including the amputation of his arm, his agent said. Our thoughts and prayers are with this young NFL star who has obviously suffered a career-ending injury.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, it is not clear as to how or why this crash occurred. There are several unanswered questions here. Did a collision between the pickup truck and the Maserati cause the truck to crash into the concrete barrier? What caused the pickup truck to go out of control? Was there a vehicle defect or mechanical malfunction in the truck that may have caused or contributed to the horrific crash? We trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here.

Car Accidents and Amputations

This car crash illustrates the serious and life-changing consequences a car accident can have on a person’s life. According to the Amputee Coalition, there are about 2 million people living with limb loss in the United States. One of the main causes of amputations is trauma, which includes auto accidents. A limb amputation is a catastrophic injury, which means that the victim will never become whole again and cannot go back to living the life he or she was living prior to the accident.

This car crash has dealt a devastating blow to Norton’s budding football career. Our hearts go out to him and his family as they go through a very difficult time in their lives. We also hope all the facts come out in this case and that the at-fault parties are held accountable for the horrible losses suffered.
