Study Shows Even Light Rain Can Increase the Risk of Car Accidents

A two-vehicle car accident in the Cypress Park area of Los Angeles left seven people including at least two pedestrians injured the afternoon of Feb. 23. According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred in the 2900 block of Division Street near San Fernando Road. Seven patients were treated at a triage that was set up at the scene. They were then transported to a hospital, officials said. Three were reported to be in fair condition and one in good condition. No citations or arrests were reported and the investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims of this crash. We wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

LA Crash Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2014 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 236 fatalities and 25,270 injuries reported as a result of car accidents in the city of Los Angeles. Countywide, 606 people died and 51,988 were injured as a result of traffic accidents during the same year. Also, in Los Angeles County, 220 deaths and 4,850 injuries were reported due to pedestrian accidents in 2014.

Causes and Compensation Issues

Based on this news report, it is unclear as to who caused this crash and why. There are several unanswered questions here. Which one of the two vehicles involved in this crash actually caused it? Was alcohol or drugs involved? Did speed play a part in triggering this crash? Did one of the vehicles fail to yield the right of way or make an unsafe move? Was distracted driving a factor in this crash? We trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely who or what caused this injury accident.

In such cases, the at-fault party can be held liable for the injuries, damages and losses caused to victims. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, loss of wages, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitative treatment, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Car accidents and pedestrian accidents often leave victims with chronic pain and debilitating injuries and disabilities, consequences that last long after the incident.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a crash caused by someone else’s negligence or wrongdoing, an experienced Los Angeles car accident lawyer can help fight for your rights and secure maximum compensation for your tremendous losses.
