By Brian Chase on August 12, 2016 - No comments

Four people were injured, two critically, in a Los Angeles pedestrian accident after a driver put his car in reverse and struck them. According to a KABC news report, the incident occurred the afternoon of August 11, 2016 in the 600 block of Park View Street in MacArthur Park. Officials say the four pedestrians ranging in age from 24 to 35 were transported to area hospitals.

Two suffered critical injuries and two others suffered injuries that were not life threatening. The driver tried to render aid to the victims and cooperated with investigators. The driver was also evaluated at the scene, but declined to be transported to the hospital. It is not clear if alcohol or drugs were involved. No citations or arrests were reported pending an official investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the critically injured victims of this crash. We wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Ongoing Investigation

Based on this news report, details are still sketchy. Police are looking into whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time. There are also other questions here about whether the driver backed up in a hurry to evade a parking ticket and stuck the four victims in the process. Officials are still investigating to determine if the driver should face charges.

Justice for Victims

In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may be involved, injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Injured victims in such cases would also be well advised to file a police report, take photographs of the accident scene, obtain contact information for eyewitnesses and seek prompt medical attention, treatment and care.
