Ford has issued two safety recalls, including one for the 2014 to 2016 Taurus and Explorer as well as the 2014 Edge and another for the 2020 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. According to a report on Car and Driver, the first recall, which covers 15,587 U.S. vehicles, is to replace a link shaft bracket that could break and lead to a loss of power while driving or cause the parking function to fail, which can potentially lead to the vehicle rolling while in park.
Details of the Recall
The second recall of the 2020 models for a total of 10,905 U.S. vehicles, is for a driveshaft that could break along a welding seam causing either unintentional vehicle movement or loss of power while driving. The defective driveshaft could also separate from the driveline potentially hitting the fuel tank and leading to a fire risk. Ford has said it is not aware of any car accidents that have resulted from either of these recalled parts.
When the recall begins, dealers will replace the link shaft brackets on the recalled vehicles, inspect the drivetrain of those affected vehicles and replace them as necessary.
