Ford Issues Safety Recalls for Several Models

Ford Motor Company has announced two safety recalls and two safety compliances in North America. According to a report on Nasdaq.com, the recalled vehicles include the Ford F-150 and Mustang, Ford Explorer, Taurus and Police Interceptor Utility and Sedan vehicles. The models to be recalled for safety compliances include Ford-150 Crew Cab, F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab and focus vehicles.

Recall Details

About 935 of 2017 Ford F-150 and Mustang vehicles with ARC passenger airbag inflators will be recalled because of defective deployment of the inflators. This may result in metal fragments striking vehicle passengers causing potentially fatal injuries. The second safety recall will involve 263 models of 2017 Ford Explorer, Taurus and Police Interceptor Utility and Sedan vehicles with inaccurate steering gear heat shield fasteners.

These defective devices may corrode and expose the gear system in high temperatures leading to melting of gear electrical connectors. Also, drivers could face unexpected loss of power steering assist without prior warning. This could result in high-speed accidents. The biggest one involves about 141,000 2015-17 Ford F-150 Crew Cab and 2017 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab vehicles that will be recalled for safety compliance issues.

A defect in the seatbelt assembly in these vehicles may lead to the separation of the left rear inflatable seatbelt buckle, increasing chances of injury during a crash. There is one more safety compliance recall involving 835 2017 Ford Focus vehicles for a defective seatback frame that could exacerbate injuries in the event of a crash. All vehicles involved in these recalls will be inspected and replaced by company dealers if necessary.

Auto Product Liability Issues

If your vehicle is part of this recall, it is important that you get in touch with your dealer to ensure that your vehicle is inspected and that the defective parts are replaced. If you are not sure whether your vehicle has been recalled, check by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) website at safercar.gov and enter your vehicle identification number.

If you or a loved one has been injured by a recalled vehicle, it is important the vehicle is preserved unaltered and examined by an expert thoroughly for defects, malfunctions and design flaws. An experienced auto defect lawyer will be able to remain on your side, fight for your rights and help ensure that the negligent automaker is held liable for your injuries, damages and losses.
