EOS lip balm lawsuits

Consumers in California have filed a class action against EOS lip balm, which is endorsed by celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears. According to a Daily Mail news report, this lip balm has left people with painful, bleeding rashes and blisters. The lawsuit seeks damages and demands accurate advertising for the product. The lip balm comes in brightly-colored pod-like packaging. They can be bought for about $3.29 a piece and come in a variety of flavors such as vanilla mint, strawberry sorbet and summer fruit.

Severe Symptoms

The class action is being brought by Rachael Cronin who said the lip balm caused a rash. She posted a picture of it on Facebook. According to court documents, EOS has caused consumers’ lips to crack, bleed, itch, burn, flake and generate severe boiling and blistering on and around the lips.

Cronin says the balm has made her lips crack so severely that they bled and blistered forcing her to seek medical care. She said in the lawsuit that her lips felt like “sandpaper” several hours using the product. After she reapplied the balm to soothe her skin, her lips began to crack, flake and bleed. The next day, she got rashes and blisters and her symptoms lasted about 10 days. EOS has responded by saying that the lawsuit is without merit and that their products are made with high quality materials and have gone through rigorous testing.

Product Liability Issues

Product manufacturers have a duty and a responsibility to ensure that their products are safe for consumers. In this particular case, some consumers are alleging that the lip balm endorsed by so many female celebrities is causing severe symptoms. It is not known if these injuries have caused scarring or disfigurement for any consumers who have used them.

If you have used one of these products and suffered severe symptoms, you may be able to join a class action.
