Drivers Killed in Two Separate Car Accidents in Orange

Police tape blocking accident scene
Enrique Jimenez-Colorado, 48, of Orange, and Shane Lowe, 58, of Newport Beach, died from injuries they suffered in two separate car accidents within the space of an hour on the night of May 20. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the first crash occurred around 9:50 p.m. when a Honda Civic with two occupants was stopped at a red light at Collins Avenue preparing to turn north onto Glassell Street.

Two Fatal Crashes

A Dodge Ram pickup truck rear-ended the Civic. The driver of the pickup, Jimenez-Colorado, was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. The man and woman in the Civic suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The second crash occurred just before 10:30 p.m. at Tustin Street and Taft Avenue. The driver of a Porsche sedan was stopped at Taft preparing to turn south on Tustin. When the light turned green, the Porsche proceeded into the intersection when a Kia Sol driven by a man heading north on Tustin sped through a red light and collided with the Porsche. Lowe, the driver of the Porsche, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia’s driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Orange police said drugs are suspected to be a factor for the Kia driver. Anyone with information on the crashes can contact the Orange Police Department at 714-744-7444. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by both these collisions. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims.

Negligence in Car Accidents

Negligence is an important factor when it comes to determining fault and liability in car accidents. In the second crash, for example, it appears that the driver of the Kia may have been under the influence of drugs when he sped through a red light and struck the Porsche whose driver was killed as a result of the crash. In this particular case, it appears that the driver broke several laws by driving a vehicle while impaired, speeding, and running a red light. In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing is a factor, families of deceased victims may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation for damages such as medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income, pain and suffering, and loss of love, care and companionship. An experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer will be able to advise victims’ families regarding their legal rights and options.   Source: https://www.ocregister.com/2022/05/21/drivers-of-a-porsche-pickup-are-killed-in-separate-collisions-in-orange/
