The companies involved in this class action lawsuit include: Cooperatives Working Together, Dairy Farmers of America, Inc., Land O’Lakes, Inc., Dairylea Cooperative Inc., and Agri-Mark, Inc.

These companies collectively produce 70% of America’s milk.

What is Price Fixing?

Price Fixing is the illegal practice of maintaining retail prices at a certain level by agreement between competing sellers.

This means that when two or companies partake in price fixing, consumers get charge unfairly high prices since there is no competition between the involved companies and thus prices are not based on supply and demand.

The Federal Trade Commission works hard to ensure this does not happen so prices can be fair for all consumers; however, many companies conduct this business in secret so it may that years before legal action can be pursued.

How Can I Find Out If I Qualify for Compensation?

If you bought a dairy product between 2003 and now, and if you were/are a resident in the affected states, (Arizona, California, Washington DC, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin) you are entitled to compensation from this class action lawsuit.

To receive your compensation, head over to boughtmilk.com and fill out the necessary information. The best part is that you do not need to have a receipt or any proof of purchase for the dairy item(s) that you may have bought over the past 14 years.

Although you do not need evidence to prove that you purchased a dairy product in the determined time frame and areas, it is important to note that if you had purchase a dairy product straight from the producer, you do not qualify. The purchase must have been made at a grocery store or other retailer in the affected states.

The deadline to apply for compensation ends on Jan 31. and compensation will be paid out electronically (PayPal, Google Wallet, ect.)

How Can I File a Class Action Lawsuit?

Consumer attorneys, such as the experienced Orange County personal injury lawyers at Bisnar Chase, are especially concerned about the way companies allegedly deceive consumers as well as the authorities. So many consumers suffered from the greedy motives of big businesses and corporations.

These companies pay a substantial fine to avoid criminal charges, and if this wasn’t enough, these fines barely phase big business and they go right back to short changing the hard-working consumers that they do business with.

Where is the justice and accountability behind this? It is a vicious circle that keeps negatively affecting the average consumer, however, there is help.

This is where class action lawsuits come into play and an experience Orange County class action attorney can help you initiate necessary legal action.

Both the lawsuit and the lawyer are the last form of hope for the average consumer who has been short changed by big business.

The average citizen does not have the same legal access and defense like many corporations have. However, the consumer does have the will to pursue justice and the class action lawsuit is their “megaphone” to get their voice heard.
