9-year-old California Girl Electrocuted in Swimming Pool

McKenzie Kinley, 9, of Citrus Heights, was electrocuted in her backyard swimming pool after a pool light malfunctioned. According to a KTLA news report, the Northern California girl died in a Sacramento area hospital after efforts by family members and fire officials to revive her failed. A lawsuit has been launched by the devastated parents of a high school student who drowned during a PE class. Benjamin Curry, 15, was a freshman at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, California, when he drowned in the school’s outdoor pool. The teen slipped below the surface during a swim class, after becoming fatigued in a water treading exercise. No one noticed him slip underwater and he drowned in the 12-foot-deep pool. Emeline Grier Miller, the 19-month-old daughter of Olympic gold medal skier Bode Miller, died in a swimming pool accident the evening of June 9. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred when Miller and his wife, Morgan, were at a neighbor’s home for a pool party. According to reports, Emeline somehow ended up in the water. MTV’s “Ridiculousness” star Sterling “Steelo” Brim‘s 3-year-old nephew drowned in the actor’s North Hollywood home’s swimming pool after wandering into the backyard and falling into the water. According to a TMZ news report, the toddler wandered into the backyard the morning of June 23, 2017 when adults weren’t looking and fell into the pool.

It is not clear how long the child was in the pool before he was discovered. TMZ reports that paramedics rushed to the home and that the child was transported to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead just after noon the same day. The boy’s family was visiting Brim from Chicago. Officials have ruled the death an accidental drowning. …Read the rest »

 

5-year-old Boy Saves Toddler from Drowning in Irvine Swimming Pool

A 5-year-old boy who was celebrating his birthday in Irvine over the weekend ended up saving the life of a 2-year-old girl who had slipped under the water unnoticed. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the two children were sitting near a hot tub at 5:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of Crested Bird when an adult who was watching them turned away.

The girl fell in the water soon losing consciousness and was underwater for less than a minute when the 5-year-old pulled her out. Bystanders performed CPR on the girl and called 911. The girl regained consciousness before being transported in moderate condition to the hospital. Boy Left in Coma after Near Drowning at School Party

The father of 13-year-old Alex Pierce, who nearly drowned in a Riverside County swimming pool accident, is demanding answers about how teen lifeguards and other supervisors present at a school pool party handled the situation. Man Electrocuted in Palm Springs Swimming Pool Accident

James Tramel, 43, was electrocuted after he jumped into a swimming pool to save his 9-year-old daughter who had suffered an electric shock while swimming in the pool. According to an NBC news report, the incident occurred on March 27, 2016. Police said Tramel, a tech executive from Burlingame, was at a family gathering in Palm Springs when he noticed his daughter getting shocked while swimming.

She was turning blue, which is when Tramel jumped in to save her and was electrocuted. Tramel died a short time later at a local hospital. His daughter remains in critical condition. Two other children, 8 and 6, and a 45-year-old woman were all treated and released from an area hospital for related injuries. Authorities are still trying to figure out how the incident occurred. Former NBA Star Dies In Swimming Pool Accident

Jackson Vroman, a 34-year-old former NBA star and friend of pop star Justin Beiber was found dead in his pool after tripping on stairs, hitting his head and falling into the water. According to a news report in the Daily Mail, Vroman died at his Los Angeles County home on June 29, 2015. The Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed drowning as a cause of death. Officials said Vroman was sitting down, got up to go inside the house, tripped on the stairs, hit his head and drowned in the swimming pool.

Irvine Near-Drowning Leaves Toddler in Serious Condition

12 Children Sickened by Chemical Exposure at Thousand Oaks Swimming School

A 3-year-old girl was hospitalized in serious condition after she nearly drowned in a community spa in an Irvine townhome complex. According to a news report in the Orange County Register, the girl fell into the spa when her father was barbecuing the evening of September 27, 2014. A bystander saw the 3-year-old at the bottom of the spa and pulled her out. An off-duty nurse performed CPR until fire personnel arrived. The girl was “lethargic and vomiting” when they arrived. She was rushed to Hoag Hospital in Irvine where she remains in serious condition.
