Actor Luke Wilson, brother of Owen Wilson, is being commended for his heroism after he helped rescue a woman during a deadly Los Angeles car accident, which also involved golfer Bill Haas. The incident occurred the night of Feb. 13. The crash killed the driver of the Ferrari Haas was riding in and injured a female driver of a BMW. The driver was identified as Mark William Gibello with whom Haas was staying as he prepared to play at the Genesis Open in Los Angeles.
A Dramatic Rescue
Tattoo artist Sean Heirigs, who was right behind the accident, said Wilson led the charge when it came to the rescue. He said he saw the driver of the Ferrari accelerate and lose control. It hit the BMW and clipped Wilson’s vehicle before running into a pole. Heirigs said his 14-year-old daughter who was with him called 911 and went to help the woman trapped in the BMW, which had flipped over onto the passenger side. Wilson, who feared the BMW could go up in flames because it was emitting smoke, devised a plan to free her. Wilson pulled her through the back trunk area and along with Heirigs, carried her to the curb.
Police are looking into whether speed was a factor in the crash. Neither Wilson nor Heirigs were injured. The woman from the BMW has been hospitalized with serious injuries. Haas had pain and swelling in his legs, but no broken bones, and is returning to South Carolina to recuperate. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was affected by this horrific accident.
