1.9 Million Toyota RAV4 SUVs Under Investigation for Battery Fire Risks
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating complaints of engine compartment fires in nearly 1.9 million Toyota RAV4 small sport utility vehicles. According to the Associated Press, federal safety regulators launched the probe after getting 11 fire complaints involving the 2013 through 2018 models. Continental Tires Recalled for Blowout Risk
Continental Tire is recalling about 94,000 tires from the Continental, General and Barum brands because of a manufacturing defect that could potentially cause a tire blowout. According to Consumer Affairs, if this happens when the vehicle is moving, the driver could lose control of the vehicle and crash. Hyundai Recalls 82,000 Electric Cars After Reports of Battery Fires
Hyundai will issue an auto defect recall for 82,000 Kona electric cars worldwide to replace their batteries after 15 reports of fires involving the vehicles. Ford Recalls More Than 150,000 Vehicles For Faulty Takata Airbags
Ford is recalling more than 150,000 vehicles in North America after reportedly losing track of defective airbags that could potentially explode and hurl shrapnel into the vehicle compartment. According to a report in the New York Post, the recalls are part of a massive, worldwide fallout from these dangerous airbag inflators. Ford said it could not locate 45 obsolete Takata airbags that may have been installed in order Ford Ranger pickup trucks. Johnson & Johnson Sets Aside Nearly $4 Billion for Talcum Powder Verdict
Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has set aside almost $4 billion to cover the biggest verdict against the company over its Baby Powder and other settlements while it’s appealing the 2018 loss to the U.S. Supreme Court.
