12 Vehicle Pileup in Corona Today

By Brian Chase on August 6, 2015 - No comments

A multi-vehicle car accident in Corona involving at least a dozen vehicles caused injuries brought traffic to a crawl for Inland drivers commuting to Orange County. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the crash occurred early morning on August 6, 2015 on the westbound side of Highway 91 west of Green River Road. Paramedics were also called to the scene. However, it is not clear how many people were injured. The nature and extent of those injuries is also unknown at this time. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the cause of this crash.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by this multi-vehicle collision. We wish the injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Corona Crash Statistics

There were 11 fatalities and 521 injuries reported as a result of car accidents in Corona, according to CHP’s 2012 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In Riverside County as a whole, 202 people died and 7,446 were injured due to traffic accidents during the same year.

Ongoing Investigation

Based on this news report and accompanying media images, it appears that this was a chain reaction collision on the 91 Freeway involving at least a dozen vehicles. We trust officials are still looking into precisely who or what caused this crash. There are still a number of unanswered questions here.

Was this accident caused by a driver who was under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did distracted or fatigued driving cause this accident? Did excessive speed play a part in this collision? Was one of the vehicles following another too closely, causing the chain reaction crash? The answers to these and other questions will hopefully help shed some light on what caused this crash.

What Victims Can Do

Those who are injured in this crash would be well advised to get medical attention and treatment right away. This will help maximize their chances for a full recovery. In such cases it would also be extremely helpful to get a copy of the CHP accident report, photographs from the scene, contact information for other parties involved in the incident and for eyewitnesses.

Multi-vehicle collisions can get very complicated very quickly because of the number of parties, insurance companies and lawyers involved. If you have been involved in this or any other multi-vehicle collision, it is important that you refrain from talking to legal counsel or insurance companies for other parties. Do not rush into a quick agreement or settlement. Contact an experienced Riverside personal injury lawyer who will fight for your rights and protect your best interests. Do not sign any waivers or grant any parties access to your personal medical or financial information. Talk to your lawyer first before you make any decision that could have an impact on your potential claim or even, perhaps, your financial future.
