California Traumatic Brain Injury LawyersTraumatic Brain Injury Attorneys in Orange County, Los Angeles & San FranciscoThe brain, one of the largest, and most complex organs in the human body, weighs approximately three pounds, and is made up of 100 billion nerve cells. It not only controls processes like thinking, and movement, but also body functions such as digestion and breathing. It would seem that an organ this important to the normal operation of the body would be built to be durable. However, this wrinkled, gelatin-like mass is far more fragile than most people realize. Because of its fragility, the brain was designed to float in the cerebrospinal fluid inside the skull. This fluid acts as a buffer from ordinary knocks and jolts to the brain in the same way that packing peanuts protect a fragile item from damaging bumps when it is being shipped. But in spite of this protective fluid, if you receive a severe blow to the head, the force of the impact can cause your brain to bounce violently against your skull. When this happens, it can result in nerve fibers being torn and bleeding in and around the brain. This damage to brain tissue is known as traumatic brain injury or TBI. Even though TBI is a devastating illness, traumatic brain injury recovery can be possible, to some extent, at least. Recently, many advances have been made in traumatic brain injury treatment and so families need to be aware of the latest treatments. For more help, please see traumatic brain injury tips which is prepared especially for families.
