Pasadena Speed Traps
Personally, the last thing I think of when I'm in Pasadena is a speed trap, until I'm being pulled over. Pasadena, a beautiful city located in Los Angeles County, is famous for hosting the annual Rose Bowl football game and Tournament of Roses Parade. It is home to many leading scientific and cultural institutions, including the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena City College (PCC), NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Art Center College of Design.
If you drive in Pasadena, you know that a car accident can happen whether you're on foot, riding a bike or buckled in your SUV. Statistics from the California Highway Patrol's Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) showed that in 2006, 11 people were killed and 1,047 were injured in Pasadena car crashes.
When areas develop a reputation for being prone to catastrophic injury accidents, police enforcement tend to set up speed traps to help regulate the situation. Some think that speed traps are just a way for the state to make more money, which may be true, but either way it would be worth your while to stay alert in the following areas.
