California Nursing Home Abuse Lawyers

Bisnar Chase, California Nursing Home abuse lawyers has recognized the growing need to protect the elderly against abuse and neglect. The APS (Adult Protective Services) reports that, in one year alone in the United States, there are close to 240,000 reports of elder abuse and neglect and in many cases, elders are being abused, physically, emotionally and financially while in the "care" of nursing homes and assisted living residences.

The State of California has enacted the Adult Civil Protection Act to protect the rights of the elderly. Bisnar Chase has also taken on the social responsibility of representing abused and neglected seniors and will vigorously pursue all negligent parties.

John Bisnar

John Bisnar, Founder, on the role of compassion:
“You are dealing with people who are seriously injured or have lost a family member…Compassion is understanding someone else’s situation.”

Nursing home abuse falls into two categories, intentional harm and neglect. The intentional harm includes physical attacks, sexual assaults, emotional abuse and financial abuse. Neglect includes failure to provide for basic needs which can result in dehydration, malnutrition, medication overdoses, falls, infections, bedsores, pressure sores, skin ulcers, decubitus ulcers, osteomyelitis, septicemia and gangrene.

Nursing homes are responsible for providing the following:

  1. Care for their residents in such a manner and in such an environment as will promote maintenance or enhancement of the quality of life of each resident;
  2. Provide services and activities to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, psycho social well-being of each resident in accordance with a written plan of care. The plan should describe the medical, nursing and psycho-social needs of the resident and is to be periodically reviewed and updated;
  3. Conduct a comprehensive assessment that describes the resident's capability to perform daily functions and significant impairments.

If you believe that your elderly loved one has been a victim of abuse and neglect at the hands of negligent caregivers you may be able to file a claim to recover all damages against your loved one and family. If you see any of these signs, consult a reputable nursing home abuse lawyer immediately.

Client Reviews of Bisnar Chase

“My sister in law referred me to Bisnar Chase after I was rear ended on the 405 in January. They went over everything with me for best and worst case scenarios of my car accident claim. I fully knew what to expect and was informed every step of the way. That was a major factor to me! In addition to my settlement which I was really happy with, I couldn't believe how great their whole staff treated me. I really felt like "me" as a person mattered a lot to them. Would highly recommend!”

“I went to them from a recommendation from my tax attorney. They have a good rap, and they talk the talk, so far they have walked the walk. I will update after the court case happens. The communication is fantastic, my case isn't worth a lot, but it would appear like they enjoy their work, rather than trying to leech out my money. They don't bill me for every phone call, which is nice!! I would recommend them as well, very professional and efficient.”

“INTEGRITY, CONFIDENCE AND THOROUGHNESS-THIS FIRM IS AMAZING! when my German Shepherd was falsely accused of biting a child, I thought, who better than the best personal injury attorney out there to ask for advise? Researched best attorneys in OC for dog bites, and was directed to the law firm of Bisnar and Chase. To say I was astounded at the depth of the response I received to my online enquiry is an understatement.
Upfront they said they weren't defense attorneys, but (after winning numerous severe dog bite cases over the years) they took the time to line item their opinion of how events would unfold (putting my mind at ease). In this day and age, the fact they took the time out of their busy day to respond so thoroughly to a cry for help ( inwhich they had absolutely nothing to gain), speaks volumns about the integrity of this firm. I wouldn't hesitate to use them, or refer them.”
