Los Alamitos, Tustin, and Buena Park's Most Dangerous Intersections
Recently the Orange County Transportation Authority released a list of Los Alamitos, Tustin, and Buena Park's busiest intersections. Being an advocate for victims of catastrophic injury for over 30 years, I have come to recognize that with a rise in traffic, in any given area, comes a rise in traffic accidents.
Los Alamitos
Los Alamitos is a smaller Orange County city with just over 12,000 people, yet it suffers from a disproportionate number of car accidents. Next to the 605 and 405 freeways, the city often finds itself caught in rush-hour traffic.
Between 2001 and 2003, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that Los Alamitos had five fatal motor vehicle accidents. This calculates out to 4.3 fatal crashes per 10,000 people, which was slightly higher than the national norm. The following intersection is known for being the busiest, and therefore one of the most dangerous intersections in Los Alamitos.
The intersection at Katella Avenue and Los Alamitos Avenue carries an average of 100,600 vehicles per day
Tustin
Tustin, California is a fairly prosperous community within Orange County. In fact, because of a top 10% ranking in per capita and one of the shortest commutes in Southern California, the city was chosen in 2009 by Forbes as one of the top 25 towns to live well in America. Although Tustin is a nice place to live, motorists in the area are becoming more aware of the dangerous roadways.
The California Highway Patrol's Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) reported that in 2006, two people were killed and 392 were injured in Tustin car collisions. Impaired drivers caused 30 car crash injuries. A total of 24 pedestrians and 20 bicyclists were injured in pedestrian accidents. Motorcycle accidents killed one and injured 21. The more traffic that is concentrated in a your area, the more likely you are to be involved in an accident, making the following busy intersection an area to use extra caution.
Underpass on Edinger Avenue at Jamboree Road:An average of 97,300 vehicles a day travel through this intersection.
Buena Park
In a busy city like Buena Park, California with rush hour traffic and people trying to get to work and school, Buena Park car accident attorneys will tell you, your odds of getting into an accident are high.
In 2006, the California Highway Patrol's Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) reported that five people died and 459 were injured in Buena Park car collisions. DUIs killed three and injured 38. Pedestrian accidents injured 19. Bicycle accidents killed two and injured 31. These facts tell a gruesome tale, when driving through Buena Park, be careful. Especially when you are approaching Beach Boulevard and La Palma Avenue.
Beach Boulevard and La Palma Avenue: An average of 84,200 vehicles travel through on their way to Knott's Berry Farm, Soak City, or other nearby tourist attractions.
