Bisnar | Chase Weighs in on Rash of Reported Hit and Run Car Accidents in Orange County

Orange County car accident lawyer comments on a Dec. 18 news report in The Orange County Register covering the recent spate of hit-and-run crashes. In just two days two men were killed and a woman was injured in the county as a result of auto accidents, the newspaper reports.

hit and run reward programNearly a dozen people have suffered serious or fatal injuries as a result of hit-and-run crashes in Orange County over the last one month, a Dec. 18 news report in The Orange County Register states.

Two men were killed and a wheelchair-bound woman was injured just in the past two days and these are only the latest victims of a "bloody spate of accidents since the start of November," the article states. Among the hit-and-run victims were a 7-year-old girl who was hit and dragged, a 3-year-old girl who was run over by a shooting suspect and three teen boys who were thrown on to the hood of a car, the Register reports.

The common thread in all these separate crashes was the fact that the driver fled the scene in each case, the report states. These and other incidents bring the total number of Orange County pedestrian or bicycle accidents to 16 since the start of November and in half of those incidents, the drivers fled, according to the article.

Police officials from agencies investigating these cases told the Register that the first hours after a hit-and-run accident are crucial when it comes to tracking down a driver.

Orange County car accident attorney John Bisnar, founder of the Bisnar | Chase personal injury law firm and the Hit-and-Run Reward Program, agrees. 'The Hit-and-Run Reward Program, through its dedicated website, http://www.hitandrunreward.com, allows community members to anonymously provide information to the police.

It also makes them eligible to receive a $1,000 reward if their tip leads to an arrest and felony conviction', Bisnar says. "Law enforcement officials count on eyewitnesses to give descriptions and details about the suspect and the vehicle," he said. "For them, it is extremely important to gather as much evidence as possible from the scene so they have the best shot at apprehending the suspect. The tips and information witnesses provide in such cases can be invaluable."
