Fountain Valley Speed Traps
The city of Fountain Valley is located just minutes away from Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, the beach -- and several speed traps. With Fountain Valley being so close to so many hot spots, it's relatively easy for police officers to pick any street and bring in substantial much-needed revenue for the city. This doesn't necessarily mean that the goal is money, although I'm sure it's a close second, but rather to ensure the safety of locals and tourists in areas where catastrophic injury accidents are more likely.
Since its incorporation in 1957 and throughout its rich history, the city of Fountain Valley has been known as "A Nice Place to Live." Residents of the city have adopted this motto thanks to their 18 parks, wide range of recreation programs for all ages, great weather throughout the year and overall quality of life. Unfortunately, the streets paint a grim picture. Although Fountain Valley is not doing a bad job of keeping motorists safe, there are still many injuries as a result of car accidents within their city limits.
In 2006, statistics compiled by the California Highway Patrol's Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) showed that 4 people died and 476 people were injured in Fountain Valley car accidents. If speed traps are set in areas of higher traffic accidents, it would be wise to watch your speed when approaching these areas.
