Farmers Auto Insurance Review
If you have auto insurance and you would like to see how the auto insurance company might fare, if you were involved in a car accident, this article is for you. Catastrophic injuries are the last things an adjuster wants to hear, and so getting a heads up on which companies deny viable claims most often could be a step towards truly insuring yourself.
Farmers Insurance was established in 1928 by John C. Tyler and Thomas E. Leavey. It is a personal lines property and casualty insurance group, providing homeowners insurance, auto insurance, life insurance and financial services in the United States. It is the third largest insurance group in the US servicing over 10 million households in 41 states. Farmers Group Inc. is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
Farmers Auto Insurance Criticism
In 2006, Farmers received the highest number of complaints to state insurance departments in Washington and Oregon.
In 2003, Farmers Insurance was sued by a woman who was involved in a car accident and was refused compensation despite her claims of being in pain, losing her career and being unable to have another child. The suit claimed that Farmers used Colossus, a third party computer program, to evaluate her claim and that the program served as a way to rip off their customers. The company's use of Colossus was further questioned by two company whistle blowers who remarked that "there's so much pressure on you to settle for the least amount possible" using prizes such as $25 gift certificates or a pizza party for adjusters achieving lowest auto claim settlements.
In the JD Powers 2007 Collision Repair Satisfaction Study, which covered customers surveyed between 2001 and 2004, Farmers Insurance received the lowest possible ratings in all four of the studied categories: "Overall Experience," "Claim Settlement," "Claim Representative" and "Claim Process and Procedures."

Farmers Auto Insurance Conclusions
The sad fact is that you never really know how an insurance company is going to treat you until they are insuring you. An insurance company's number one priority is to make money, and so bribing employees to skimp on clients by offering them pizza parties isn't the greatest endorsement. Although Farmers' past has been littered with questionable actions, their customer ratings aren't the worst, but they aren't good either.
