Two Injured in Fullerton Car Accident

By John Bisnar on May 1, 2012 - No comments

Two women suffered injuries in a Fullerton car accident, which officials say involved two vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred the morning of April 30, 2012 at the intersection of Euclid Street and Highland Avenue. A Toyota Highlander and a Ford Focus collided at the intersection. The women, who were occupants of the Focus, were transported to area hospitals. One of them was taken to a trauma center. Six other people were assessed at the scene, but did not require hospitalization. The investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to the injured victims of this collision. I wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), five fatalities and 761 injuries occurred involving Fullerton car accidents. During the same year, 141 people died and 13,373 were injured due to Orange County car accidents.

What Caused This Intersection Crash?

Based on the news report, it appears that the accident occurred at a street intersection. Did one of the drivers fail to obey a traffic control device at the intersection? Did one of the drivers fail to yield the right-of-way? Did a vehicle make an unsafe turn at the intersection? According to California Vehicle Code Section 21800 (a): “The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle which has entered the intersection from a different highway.”

Fault and Liability

In such cases, the at-fault driver can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. Injured victims can seek compensation to cover damages such as medical expenses, lost wages and benefits, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. Car accident victims would be well advised to contact an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
