Police have identified a 13-year-old girl who died in a Los Angeles car accident that happened the morning of February 26, 2010, as Julia Siegler. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the teenager was trying to cross Sunset Boulevard to catch a school bus when she was clipped by a vehicle and then run over by another. Police say preliminary reports show that Julia was crossing against a red light. Both drivers remained at the scene. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital. She succumbed to her injuries. Manuel and Maria Mosqueda, 55 and 54 years old respectively, sustained injuries in a car accident after a speeding driver lost control of her car and crashed head-on into their vehicle on the Highway 46 east of San Luis Obispo. According to a report in the San Luis Obispo Tribune, the Mosquedas were traveling west on the highway, in a 2009 Chevy Silverado, the night of February 27, 2010, when an eastbound 2005 Chrysler Sebring struck them head-on. One person was killed and another was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident involving at least eight vehicles and a big rig. According to an ABC News report, the fatal traffic accident occurred the night of February 24, 2010 on the eastbound 101 Freeway near Sepulveda Boulevard, in Sherman Oaks. One person was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. One other victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Authorities have identified 67-year-old Jose Elizondo as the victim of an Orange County car accident that occurred the afternoon of January 15, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the fatal car crash occurred on the 5 Freeway in San Juan Capistrano near the Junipero Serra Road off-ramp, when the Ford Taurus driven by Elizondo clipped a Nissan Sentra. The Taurus then went off the roadway, rolled over and landed on a clump of cactus. A female passenger in the Ford was taken to an area hospital with injuries. Occupants in the Sentra were uninjured. Paul John Rado, 62, was killed in a Riverside car accident the morning of January 19, 2010 after the company truck he was driving left Highway 189 and crashed. According to a news report in The Mountain News, Rado, an employee with Arrowhead Alarms, was returning to his company's headquarters after his morning rounds, in the Blue Jay area, when the fatal accident occurred. Rado's 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck was located down an embankment off the roadway, and on its roof, by one of his co-workers, who went out to look for him when he did not return to work. John Ambrecht, 88, of Oxnard died from injuries he suffered in a Ventura car accident last month, the Ventura County Star reports. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred the evening of December 2, 2009 at the intersection of Hemlock Street and Napoli Drive in Oxnard. A 24-year-old motorcyclist who sustained fatal injuries in an Orange County car accident has been identified as David Tanner. The Orange County Register reports that the fatal motorcycle crash occurred the evening of December 29, 2009 at the intersection of Orangewood Avenue and Mac Nab Street when Tanner's Yamaha R1 motorcycle was struck by a BMW sedan, which turned left in front of him. A Huntington Beach woman who sustained fatal injuries in a fiery car accident on the Interstate 80 near Truckee, early morning December 29, 2009, has been identified as 18-year-old Jessica Ann Faber. The Union reports that Faber was killed and 23-year-old Gregory Wessels of Fountain Valley was critically injured after a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into their vehicle. The wrong-way driver, 21-year-old Christopher Dann, also died in the car crash. Wessels is listed in serious condition at a local hospital. Read the rest of this entry »

Alberto Herrera-Garcia, 54, sustained fatal personal injuries in a San Diego on-the-job accident, the morning of December 24, 2009, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Herrera-Garcia was apparently unloading 20-foot long wooden beams from a forklift, when the load shifted off the forklift and fell on him, at the industrial site on Marconi Drive, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's report states. The blow knocked Herrera-Garcia backward and he hit his head and suffered serious head trauma. He died shortly after the accident. Herrera-Garcia was also the driver of the truck, which was carrying the lumber. Investigators are looking into what caused the load to shift and fall on the victim. Read the rest of this entry »
