Bard Avaulta Vaginal Mesh Takes Its Toll on Consumers
Just when the makers of the alleged defective bard avaulta product were starting to creep away from the public spotlight, a large group of women have banded together to fight in the courtroom side-by-side. A device marketed to help women who suffer from pelvic organ prolapse, this product defect has allegedly caused much more severe and painful conditions than the one it was designed to eliminate. With more and more victims coming forward, it comes as no surprise that a new case has formed that is looking to get proper compensation for a painful and humiliating circumstance.
U.S. District Court in Atlanta
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, is just one of several against CR Bard Inc. of Murray Inc. of Murray Hill, N.J., claiming it has resulted in severe pain and other problems. Many victims are feeling hurt, betrayed, and humiliated by the defective product and want compensation for their physical and emotional injuries.
The women "get this product and then they wind up with intractable pain," said Athens, Ga., attorney Hendry Garrard, who is involved in several Bard Avaulta cases all over the country. "The mesh appears to be moving from where it was originally put," said Garrard. "It curls, tearing nerves and doing significant damage. When they go in to try to repair it and take it out, they generally can't get the arms out."

Honda Recalls 18,000 Vehicles for Possible Fuel Tank Leaks
Honda Motor Company has issued an auto defect recall for more than 18,000 of its 2011 Civic model vehicles over concerns that the fuel tank could leak in a rollover crash. According to a report in Detroit News, the Japanese auto maker has also stopped the sales of some of the Civic models. Honda officials say the recall is to inspect and replace a part, which could "fail to prevent fuel from leaking out of the fuel tank into the evaporative emissions canister" in the event of a rollover. The fuel pump module in these vehicles has a rollover valve. But a manufacturing defect caused by improper welding of the plastic case may cause it to break or crack.
Sales of Some Models Halted
Honda went as far as to halt the sale of some Civic vehicles this week because the vehicles on dealer lots had not been repaired. A stop sale will remain in effect for 2011 four-door and two-door Civic models, which were manufactured at the company's Canada and Indiana plants. Honda has also warned dealers that if they sold a vehicle on the "stop sale list" the dealer will be solely responsible for injuries or deaths caused as a result. When the recall begins, dealers will remove and inspect the fuel tank unit and replace it if the rollover valve case is cracked. So far, the auto maker has not receive any complaints or reports of car accidents or injuries as a result of this vehicle defect. Read the rest »

GlaxoSmithKline is Exposed For Poor Quality Standards
During a recent 60 Minutes investigative report, GlaxoSmithKline, a major worldwide provider of prescription drugs, was exposed for their cover up in the early 2000s of mixing up drugs at a Puerto Rico plant, and whistleblower Cheryl Eckard was awarded a sum of $96 million of the total amount of $750 million due to the pharmaceutical litigation and financial settlement.
The plant was mixing up drugs, putting different dosage sizes and different medications together in mislabeled bottles, and shipping them all over the world, including the United States. A grandmother of an 8-year-old boy found that the pills of Paxil that her grandson had been taking the entire month were 25mg pills, not the regular 10mg pills he'd been previously taking. The child was very sick from taking the pills, which had been colored pink instead of the regular, yellow-colored pills.
GSK Denies, Denies, and Denies
When Eckard brought this to the attention of quality control, they all but ignored her and told her it wasn't really happening. She wrote up report after report, but her warnings were falling on deaf ears. She even suggested shutting down the plant completely, but to the executives at GSK, that wasn't financially possible, and simply sweeping it under the rug was a better option in their minds.
