It is unclear how the collision occurred or if anyone will be cited for the crash.

A motorcyclist was injured in a Los Angeles car accident after his Suzuki collided with a white Mercedes-Benz that was making a left turn, the evening of January 6, 2012. According to a news report in The Beverly Hills Patch, the motorcycle accident occurred on North Santa Monica Boulevard at Crescent Drive in Beverly Hills. Officials say the driver of the Mercedes was making a left turn when the two vehicles collided. The motorcyclist was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Mauricio Valdez, 19, who was severely injured in an El Monte motorcycle accident has undergone surgery since and is now going through a tough recovery, according to our sources. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported earlier that the collision between Valdez's motorcycle and another vehicle occurred the afternoon of December 20, 2011, near the intersection of Penn Mar Avenue and Ramona Boulevard.
Officials say Valdez was westbound on Ramona when the other vehicle exited a driveway and drove into his path. The victim was thrown off his motorcycle and sustained major injuries. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, as well as a broken hand, jaw, hip, and leg, our sources said. He underwent surgery on his arm, leg, and hip on December 29, 2011, and is in stable condition after the procedure.

A 21-year-old man was injured in a San Diego car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a car and he was run over by another vehicle. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Birch Avenue in unincorporated Escondido the early morning of December 13, 2011. Officials say a 2003 Saturn, driven by a 29-year-old individual, went through the stop sign at the intersection and struck the motorcycle. The victim who was thrown off his motorcycle was then run over by a 2003 Dodge Dakota driven by a 41-year-old man. The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. An investigation is ongoing.

A Huntington Beach motorcycle officer was injured in an Orange County car accident, the morning of December 9, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in Westminster near Edwards Street. Officials say the officer was riding his motorcycle at about 15 miles per hour in the carpool lane when he slowed down for a crash ahead. It was at that time the driver of a 2005 Toyota Sienna rear-ended the victim. The female driver of the Sienna told California Highway Patrol officials that she had become distracted while putting down a banana peel and did not look up or slow down in time to avoid hitting the officer. The officer was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. The nature or extent of his injuries is not known. An investigation is ongoing.

Honda Motor Company has issued an auto defect recall along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for about 126,000 Goldwing motorcycles because of possible brake defects. According to Consumer Reports, Honda has identified an issue with the motorcycles' secondary brake master cylinders that may cause the rear brakes to drag, increasing the risk of a collision. Riding a motorcycle with a rear brake that is stuck may also generate enough heat to pose a fire risk.

Sean Patrick Flynn, 49, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Malibu after his cycle hit a large truck, the morning of December 5, 2011. According to a City News Service report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway at Rambla Vista. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials say that Flynn attempted to pass a fully loaded dump truck. As he did so, Flynn hit the truck's side and was then run over by its rear wheels. He died at the scene. Officials are still investigating the cause of this fatal crash.

Jason M. Sinroll, 39, of Manhattan Beach, was killed in a Hawthorne car accident after his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle that was making a left turn. According to a news report in the Daily Breeze, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the evening of November 30, 2011 at the intersection of Rosecrans and Inglewood avenues. Police say Sinroll was riding his Harley-Davidson west on Rosecrans when an eastbound Lexus that was turning north onto Inglewood struck him. Sinroll was ejected from his motorcycle and thrown onto the roadway. The Lexus after striking the motorcycle veered into a Toyota 4Runner that was stopped at the intersection for a red light. James Scott Rogers, 46, was killed in a Riverside County motorcycle accident after he lost control of his Harley-Davidson and crashed. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Thousand Palms Canyon Road in Desert Hot Springs, the afternoon of November 27, 2011. Officials say Rogers veered off the road and struck the dirt shoulder. Rogers, who was wearing a novelty helmet that did not meet federal safety standards, suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene of the crash. It is not clear what caused him to lose control of the Harley-Davidson.
