Should You Sue Over a Drunk Driving Wreck?

By Admin on May 3, 2012 - No comments

Only an attorney can tell you whether or not a lawsuit you're planning on pursuing is likely to win. If it's not, they probably won't want to represent you. A car accident lawyer Dallas residents use for any other type of vehicle-related lawsuit can certainly be relied upon to pursue these cases, however. Reading car accident articles may also provide you with some insight into your best options.

To Sue or Not to Sue?

Before you answer this question, consider what the entire point of filing a lawsuit is. The idea is that you can get compensation for the damage and pain and suffering that someone caused you. People, in fact, sue specifically for pain and suffering, as well as for other reasons, which include: Read the rest »

Preventing Child Accidents Through Car Seat Safety

By Admin on May 2, 2012 - No comments

Some of the most heart breaking stories that I hear as an accident attorney are the ones involving children.  A startling statistic is that more than 1,000 children under the age of 12 die each year in vehicle crashes in the U. S.  more than 100,000 are injured.  Parents, auto manufacturers and car seat makers are attempting to make cars safer for children.

One of the most significant advance is the development of 'Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH). LATCH has been in effect since 2002.  A more recent development came in March of 2011 when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) updated its car seat guidelines.  Two of the updates are keeping young children in rear facing car seats longer and keeping children in the backseat longer.  As a parent I remember trying to figure out whether my children's car seats were secured safely.  Parents still struggle with the restraint systems. Community Rallies Around Family of Hit-and-Run Victims

By Car Accident Lawyer on April 27, 2012 - No comments

Friends of 38-year-old Jose Luis Arreola are helping his family after Arreola was killed and his 7-year-old daughter Angelica was critically injured in a Los Angeles hit-and-run car accident. According to a news report in the Daily Breeze, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on April 20, 2012, Arreola, his wife, Erika, and their daughters Anjelica and Adriana, 3, were walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Santa Ana Boulevard and Watts Avenue. At that moment a Cadillac Escalade SUV sped toward them as it passed another vehicles that was stopped for the pedestrians.

When Arreola saw the SUV, he grabbed his daughter in an effort to protect her. But the SUV drove through the crosswalk and hit them both. Arreola died from his injuries, while Anjelica suffered major head injuries and remains in a coma. The driver apparently stopped briefly, before running over Arreola again as he accelerated away. The suspect was last seen entering into a nearby housing project. Police say the pedestrians absolutely had the right-of-way and that the driver of the SUV was at fault. Anyone with information about this hit-and-run pedestrian accident is asked to call California Highway Patrol officials at 310-516-3355.

Tragedy Strikes Family

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Arreola family for their devastating loss. Not only did the family lose its provider, but they also have a child who is fighting for her life! The Arreola family will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.

Arreola’s colleagues at Green Hills Memorial Park where he fixed sprinklers, mowed laws and helped with burials, are rallying around the family. Employees have scheduled a car wash fundraiser for May 6 at NAPA Auto Parts at 1912 Carson St. in Torrance. The mortuary is also helping the family with Arreola’s burial expenses. The Daily Breeze reports that donations can be made to the Arreola family at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.

By Car Accident Lawyer on April 26, 2012 - No comments

Laura Hall, 66, was killed in a San Diego car accident after the SUV in which she was a passenger was hit by another vehicle, the morning of April 25, 2012. According to 10News, the Toyota RAV4 carrying Hall and her family members was traveling in the northbound lanes of the 805 Freeway when it was struck by a 2005 Nissan Altima near Mira Mesa Boulevard. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of the Nissan had swerved to avoid a sedan that veered into her lane. The SUV rolled over several times, before striking the center-divide. The Altima also hit a 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup.

The SUV’s driver, 43-year-old Brian D. Thomas suffered broken ribs, cuts and bruises. His 42-year-old wide Rebecca and son Bryan, 8, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Daneisha Thompson, 22, a passenger in the back seat, suffered lacerations and bruises. Hall was transported to an area hospital with major head injuries and died later that day. The two other motorists who were involved escaped without injuries. The driver of the sedan who triggered the chain-reaction collision left the scene. Officials are looking for this hit-and-run driver. The vehicle has been described as a beige or silver Honda sedan.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family members and friends of Laura Hall for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. The grandmother was apparently traveling to Disneyland with her family for the first time. Tragic! My thoughts and prayers are also with the other injured victims. I wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.
