Yichao Wang, a 26-year-old visiting scholar at Stanford University, has died of injuries sustained in a San Francisco car accident. Wang was bicycling home on February 3, 2010 to his Palo Alto apartment when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Palm Drive and Museum Way. A bicyclist was injured in a Riverside car accident involving a SuperShuttle van on Highway 111. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the injury collision occurred near Gateway Road the morning of February 11, 2010. The van driver told police that he was headed north in the right lane of the highway when he saw the bicyclist on the right shoulder, also traveling north. When the cyclist made a "sudden left turn" into the travel lanes, the van driver said he slammed on the brake and swerved. He however ended up hitting the bicyclist with the front passenger side of the van. The van then collided with a car. The driver of the SuperShuttle and two people in the other car where not injured. A 42-year-old woman and mother of three, who was killed in a Bakersfield car accident, has been identified as Michelle Marie Maxwell. The Californian reports that Maxwell was a passenger in a vehicle that was being driven by her 15-year-old daughter Michaela. Their Hyundai was struck at the intersection of Panama Lane and Ashe Road by a driver, who according to police ran a red light and was driving under the influence. He was identified as 30-year-old Mitchell Green, an off-duty firefighter with the Bakersfield Fire Department. Green was also injured in the crash, but is facing felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. Michaela has also been hospitalized with injuries, which are not life-threatening. Kelsey LeBoeuf, 21, was seriously injured in a Chico car accident after her bicycle was struck by a vehicle near a street intersection. According to a news report in the Chico Enterprise-Record, a pickup truck hit LeBoeuf the morning of January 7, 2010, and dragged her together with her bicycle, for about 100 feet. Chico police said LeBoeuf was riding her bike east on First Street and had just entered an intersection at Walnut Street, when the collision occurred. Officials are looking into who had the right-of-way at the time of the accident. LeBoeuf sustained a compound fracture to her right leg and underwent surgery. She is said to be recovering. A man sustained injuries in a Riverside car accident after his bicycle was hit by a vehicle near Murrieta. City News Service reports that the man was riding his bicycle the afternoon of December 9, 2009 near Clinton Keith road and Avenida La Cresta when he was struck by the sedan. The driver did not stop at the scene of the injury accident. According to California Highway Patrol officials, the suspect vehicle was a dark blue Honda Civic. Kate Leavey, a middle school teacher in Irvine, has been identified as the victim of an Orange County car accident, which occurred when she was riding to school with her son and daughter the morning of November 16, 2009, The Orange County Register reports. Leavey sustained a skull fracture and multiple fractures to her limbs in this horrific accident, which occurred as she and her children crossed Irvine Center Drive and Yale Avenue. An eastbound car that was being driven by a 71-year-old man struck Leavey. Her children, thankfully, were uninjured. Leavey has stabilized since her accident, but is still in critical condition, according to family members.

Walter Freeman 63, was killed in a San Diego car accident after his bicycle was hit by a San Diego Police Department cruiser at a busy intersection in the University City area during rush hour the morning of November 9, 2009. According to a 10news report, the fatal collision occurred in the 3800 block of Governor Drive as Freeman entered the roadway from a business driveway and crossed the southbound side. It was then the police car traveling south in the far-left lane struck the bicyclist, police said. The incident is under investigation.

A 54-year-old man has been critically injured in an Orange County car accident after he was hit by a car while riding his bike on an Anaheim street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the man, who has not yet been identified, was heading west on Broadway between Atchinson and Kroeger streets the evening of November 2, 2009 when he rode around a parked car. A vehicle that was also headed west on Broadway struck the bicyclist. Anaheim police said the motorist drove away leaving the injured bicyclist lying on the street.

A man was seriously injured in an Orange County truck accident after a big rig struck his bicycle near the 91 Freeway off-ramp on Kraemer Boulevard the morning of October 8, 2009 in Anaheim, California. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the bicyclist was riding southbound along the west curb of Kraemer approaching the eastbound off-ramp of the 91 Freeway. The semi-truck was stopped at the off-ramp, Anaheim police said.

Mark Howell, 50, was injured in a San Francisco car accident after a driver struck Howell's bicycle the afternoon of August 30, 2009. The driver apparently took his eyes off the road to look at a nearby Sonoma County sheriff's patrol car when he hit Howell, Santa Rosa police said. The driver then abandoned his 1999 Ford Windstar van leaving the keys in the ignition and fled the scene of the accident. Police are reportedly, still looking for the hit-and-run driver.
