An Artesia man was killed in an Orange County car accident when his van caught fire. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred the night of January 11, 2011 on the westbound 91 Freeway near Knott Avenue in Buena Park. California Highway Patrol officials say the victim's 2003 Chevrolet van caught fire while he was driving at about 65 miles per hour. He swerved into the right shoulder wall and crashed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It is unclear why his vehicle caught fire. An investigation is ongoing.

Lauren Marie Nelson, 28, was killed a in a San Francisco area car accident after her Lexus SUV overturned on the southbound Highway 101. The Marin Independent Journal reports that the fatal crash took place the night of September 29, 2010 near the Marin City exit in Sausalito. Authorities are unclear what caused her SUV to flip over the center median wall and roll into northbound traffic. Nelson was fatally injured when she was ejected from the SUV during the crash. Four people were injured in an Oakland car accident involving 13 vehicles, which officials say, was caused by an out-of-control dump truck. According to a CBS news report, the injury collision happened on Highway 580, the evening of September 8, 2010, on the Grand Avenue off-ramp. California Highway Patrol officials say the dump truck lost control on the exit ramp and struck the first car, which triggered a chain reaction. Lan Thi Ngo, 61, was killed in a San Francisco car accident after the car in which she was a passenger crashed into a police car. According to a news report in the San Jose Mercury News, the fatal collision occurred the morning of September 4, 2010 on the Interstate 580 in Livermore, when an out-of control Honda Accord skidded off the freeway and broadsided the California Highway Patrol car in the westbound lanes. Ngo died at the scene even though she was belted, officials said. The 70-year-old driver of the Accord suffered moderate injuries. The CHP officer was uninjured in this collision. Read the rest »

According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the two-car crash occurred on Skyline Truck Trail near Lawson Valley Road. California Highway Patrol officials say the victim was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi 300 GT west on Skyline Truck Trail when he turned the car abruptly to the left and entered the eastbound lane. Twana Williamson, 59, was killed in a rollover accident after losing control of her vehicle and crashing. According to a news report in The Union Democrat, Williamson was driving east on Upper Skyridge drive the afternoon of July 24, 2010 in her Ford Escape SUV when she lost control at a turn near Lower Skyridge. The vehicle veered off the roadway, swiped a tree and hit a rock retaining wall. California Highway Patrol officials say Williamson may not have been wearing a seatbelt. John Madeiros, 46, sustained major injuries in a motorcycle accident in Clearlake on July 8, 2010. According to a news report in the Record-Bee, Madeiros was riding a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Highway 20 near Orchard Shores Drive when the motorcycle crossed over the center lines and struck a 1975 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 39-year-old David Andrade. The Orange County Register reports that the accident occurred the morning of June 18, 2010 when the man's Toyota Camry veered off the lanes and struck the wall.
