Sean Patrick Flynn, 49, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Malibu after his cycle hit a large truck, the morning of December 5, 2011. According to a City News Service report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway at Rambla Vista. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials say that Flynn attempted to pass a fully loaded dump truck. As he did so, Flynn hit the truck's side and was then run over by its rear wheels. He died at the scene. Officials are still investigating the cause of this fatal crash.

Two people were injured, one of them seriously, in a Los Angeles car accident after a semi-truck barreled out of control and crashed into the backyard of a home. According to a news report in The Long Beach Press-Telegram, the injury crash occurred the evening of October 1, 2011 in the 11700 block of Centralia Street near Pioneer Boulevard. Officials say the truck that was pulling an empty trailer was traveling at a high rate of speed on Centralia when it lost control and crashed through cement wall lining the home's backyard. Two people who were in the yard at the time were injured. One of the victims is said to have suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive. Officials are investigating the cause of this accident.

A woman sustained major injuries in a Long Beach car accident after her vehicle was struck by a semi-trailer. According to a news report in The Press-Telegram, the major injury collision occurred the night of August 24, 2011 near the 405 Freeway transition to the southbound 710 Freeway. California Highway Patrol officials say that the truck that was transitioning from the 405 to the 710 overturned on to the top of a Honda car. The woman, who was the driver of the Honda, suffered major injuries while the truck driver escaped with minor injuries. Officials are still trying to determine the cause of this accident. The driver of the Honda was extricated from her vehicle and transported to an area hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

Six people are dead and 28 others are still missing after a train accident involving the California Zephyr, an Amtrak passenger train connecting Chicago and Emeryville, California. According to news reports, the catastrophic train accident occurred the morning of June 24, 2011, when the train was struck by a semi tractor-trailer truck, at a road crossing. The 10-car train was almost near the end of its 2,438-mile route, about 260 miles from Emeryville, when the collision occurred. The gravel truck driver and the Amtrak conductor, Laurette Lee, 68, died at the scene. Another 76 people were treated at a local hospital for a variety of injuries from blunt trauma, including fractures, abrasions, lacerations and internal organ damage. Officials expect the casualty count to go up due to the large number of missing persons.

The driver of a minivan was seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which police report, involved an impaired big rig driver. According to an article in the Los Angeles Daily News, the truck accident occurred on the 101 Freeway near Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City, the morning of February 1, 2011. The truck driver lost control when his vehicle slammed into the center divider and then collided with the minivan. The driver of the minivan was seriously injured, while the driver of the truck suffered relatively minor injuries. Police have arrested the truck driver on suspicion of drunk driving.

Authorities in Orange County are looking for a hit-and-run truck driver who they say caused an injury car accident and then left the scene. The Orange County Register reports that the truck accident happened on the southbound 57 Freeway the morning of October 14, 2010 in Placentia. A Honda Civic was struck from behind by a large truck. The Honda then went under a second big-rig. The first truck, which rear-ended the Honda, did not stop and left the scene. The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Three people sustained injuries in a Los Angeles car accident the morning of October 7, 2010. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, a big-rig and a pickup truck collided. California Highway Patrol officials say the large truck, carrying a load of about 40,000 pounds of dirt, was traveling east on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena, when it was cut off by another vehicle. The driver of the big-rig then lost control and crashed into the pickup truck. Both vehicles went through a concrete barrier and landed on the Metro Gold Line train tracks.
