A San Diego car accident which police say was caused by a suspected drunk driver early morning on January 29, 2010, injured three people. 10news reports that the driver not only struck three people who were standing outside a Pacific Beach bar, but also fled the scene of the accident. He was, however, apprehended soon afterward in his home. One of the pedestrians had a broken leg and the two others sustained abrasions and bruises. Two drivers were seriously injured in a San Diego car accident, which authorities say, were caused by a suspected drunk driver the night of February 1, 2010. According to a 10news report, the major injury collision occurred when a U.S. Marine suspected of driving under the influence lost control of his Toyota pickup truck, crossed over the double yellow lines of a Pala highway and crashed into a minivan driven by a 46-year-old Oceanside woman. California Highway Patrol officials said both drivers were taken to a local hospital with major injuries. The 26-year-old Camp Pendleton Marine is facing felony drunk driving charges. Bridgette T. Hale, 36, was killed in a San Diego car accident after a wrong-way driver crashed into her vehicle on Highway 67 in Lakeside. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, Hale's Chevy Astro van collided head-on with an Oldsmobile 98 that was heading north in the southbound lane of the highway near Johnson Lake Road the afternoon of January 26, 2010. California Highway Patrol officials said 51-year-old John Hallaway, the driver of the Oldsmobile, suffered major injuries. A man sustained serious injuries in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by a car while walking in the City Heights area. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the injury crash occurred the morning of January 20, 2010 on El Cajon Boulevard near 50th Street. San Diego police officials say a 1992 Chrysler hit the man. A San Diego car accident resulted in serious injuries to a 49-year-old pedestrian who was walking across the street in Vista, California. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the SUV versus pedestrian collision occurred at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Palmyra Drive on January 6, 2010 when a 37-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer south on Santa Fe hit the pedestrian. Alberto Herrera-Garcia, 54, sustained fatal personal injuries in a San Diego on-the-job accident, the morning of December 24, 2009, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Herrera-Garcia was apparently unloading 20-foot long wooden beams from a forklift, when the load shifted off the forklift and fell on him, at the industrial site on Marconi Drive, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's report states. The blow knocked Herrera-Garcia backward and he hit his head and suffered serious head trauma. He died shortly after the accident. Herrera-Garcia was also the driver of the truck, which was carrying the lumber. Investigators are looking into what caused the load to shift and fall on the victim. Read the rest of this entry »

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a San Diego car accident after he was hit by an SUV on the southbound 15 Freeway in Fallbrook, the afternoon of December 19, 2009. According to a report in The Village News, a 34-year-old man was driving a Honda motorcycle on the freeway when suddenly his motorcycle lost power. He then started changing lanes to move his slowing vehicle over to the right shoulder. It was then that the rear of his motorcycle was struck by a Hummer SUV driven by a 51-year-old woman. The man was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the freeway, which caused his leg to be partially severed. The driver of the Hummer was uninjured. An elderly man was killed in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by an out-of-control vehicle while getting into his parked pickup truck. According to a news report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, the man had just left his Escondido home on Begonia Street near East Mission Avenue, the afternoon of December 23, 2009, and was getting into his truck, which was parked at the curb. That was when, Escondido police say, a Honda Accord drifted across the road and struck him. After striking the man, the Honda continued down the road and struck another parked vehicle before coming to a stop. The critically injured victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died of major blunt force trauma. Police say alcohol does not seem to be a factor in this fatal accident. Two men sustained personal injuries after they were pinned between two vehicles at a construction site in downtown San Diego. According to a news report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, the accident occurred the afternoon of December 8, 2009 at Market Street and 10th Avenue, where two men were sitting on the tailgate of a truck eating lunch.
