A 23-year-old man was fatally injured in an Anaheim car accident after he was hit by a vehicle while changing a tire on the northbound shoulder of the 57 Freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the victim had pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway to change the tire early morning on August 29, 2010. California Highway Patrol officials say that was when another vehicle entering the 57 from the 91 Express lanes struck the man. The victim died at the scene. An investigation is ongoing. A San Jose car accident on Highway 880 the afternoon of August 22, 2010, caused major injuries to three people. According to a CBS News report, the injury crash occurred when a Nissan Xterra struck another disabled vehicle and pushed it into two pedestrians. Police in San Bernardino County are looking for a hit-and-run driver who they say struck and injured an 8-year-old boy in Muscoy. CBS News reports that the accident occurred at the intersection of Ogden Street and Otono Court. The boy was trying to cross the street when he was struck. A hit-and-run collision in the San Francisco bay area proved fatal for 80-year-old Manuel Enos. The Contra Costa Times reports that Enos was struck fatally by the driver of a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of California Street and Franklin Avenue. Enos was walking in a marked crosswalk at the time. The driver struck him and drove away, but was later apprehended and identified as Keibun Son, 46. Gilbert Nunez, 63, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after he was struck by a vehicle early morning on July 17, 2010. According to a news report in the San Bernardino County Sun, Nunez was walking near Washington Street and Meadow Lane, when a vehicle that was going east on Washington struck him. A pedestrian accident in San Diego resulted in major injuries for a 5-year-old boy the evening of July 13, 2010. A San Diego 6 news report states that a man who was backing up his vehicle pinned the little boy against a wall. He then left the scene on foot without stopping to render aid to the injured victim, in this case a young child. Thankfully the boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old boy sustained serious injuries in a San Francisco car accident after he was struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk. According to a news report in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, the boy was walking at the intersection of Healdsburg and Cleveland avenues in Petaluma the night of June 24, 2010, when a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Michael Petzel struck him.

The pedestrian suffered a bloody nose, road rash and possible shoulder injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officials said the young driver was not paying attention to the pedestrian in the crosswalk and didn't see him until it was too late. Tyrone L. Jones, 39, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident while crossing the street on June 26, 2010. According to a CBS News report, Jones was crossing near Broadway and 92nd Street in South Los Angeles, when a green Chevrolet Lumina struck him. Los Angeles police officials found him lying on the ground. Jones died at the scene and the vehicle that struck him fled the scene. A major injury pedestrian accident in the Torrey Pines area of San Diego was caused by a bicyclist who struck a woman and fled the scene, officials say. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the 22-year-old woman was walking a dog the night of June 13, 2010 when she was hit from behind by a bicyclist. She was knocked to the ground and hit her head. The bicyclist left the site of the collision. The woman went home. But after a few hours she admitted herself to a hospital where it was determined that she had suffered double skull fracture. No description of the suspect is available. Jerome Anderson, 60, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after he was struck by a vehicle on the 10 Freeway in Alhambra. According to a news report in the Pasadena Star-News, Anderson was walking on the 10 Freeway early morning on June 17, 2010 when 27-year-old Jamie Mulford, driving a 2008 Toyota coupe, hit him. California Highway Patrol officials say Anderson was walking northbound on the freeway. Mulford was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and another substance.
