According to a news report in the Lake County Record-Bee, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 29 and Seigler Canyon Road the morning of September 24, 2010. Jody D. Powell, 46, was killed in a Santa Barbara County motorcycle accident on July 6, 2009, according to a news report in the Ventura County Star. California Highway Patrol officials said Powell was traveling eastbound when the motorcycle accident occurred on Stagecoach Road near Paradise Road in Los Padres National Forest. Powell was apparently passing a friend who was riding a motorcycle, then accelerated into a right-hand curve in the two-lane road and drifted into the opposing lane. Powell struck a car traveling westbound at 10 to 15 mph and was ejected. Powell died at the scene. CHP officers are looking into whether alcohol was involved in this motorcycle accident.

Brandin Lee Zantop, 30, was killed in a Joshua Tree motorcycle accident early morning on June 25, 2009, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports. Zantop was riding his 2006 Yamaha bike south on Quail Springs Road when he missed a turn, went off the road crossing a dirt shoulder and hitting an 18-inch berm, California Highway Patrol officials said. Zantop and his motorcycle were thrown into the fence of a nearby home's backyard. Residents said they heard an "unusual noise" when Zantop is believed to have crashed.
